BOTOX® Cosmetic is used for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkling by temporarily paralyzing specific muscles responsible for the wrinkling. BOTOX® Cosmetic was recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of frown or concentration lines at the brow. Wrinkles that may have taken decades to develop can now be alleviated in a simple, safe, 10-minute office procedure.

Where is BOTOX® Cosmetic used?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is most commonly used for alleviating brow furrows, deep forehead creases and wrinkles (crow’s feet) at the corners of the eyes. Other areas of application include muscle banding in the neck and small wrinkles around the mouth.

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?
BOTOX® Cosmetic works by temporarily paralyzing specific muscles of expression. The muscles gradually regain function over the next several months. The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic last up to 4 months after which treatment may be repeated.

What does this procedure involve?
After your consultation, the area to be treated is cleaned and depending on the location, cold packs may be used to numb the area. Minute amounts of BOTOX® Cosmetic are injected into the muscles through a tiny needle. Pain is usually minimal.

What is the down time for BOTOX® Cosmetic injection?
There is essentially no down time. Bruising is rare. Most patients elect to return to work on the same day as treatment.
