Jessie’s “Mission to the World” Trip to Cambodia
In May, I had the wonderful opportunity of serving on a medical mission trip to Cambodia. I joined a team of eight, working with an organization called Mission to the World. This organization focuses on orchestrating medical clinics to serve those with little to no access to medical care, while supporting the work of local missionaries and churches. It was such a blessing to serve the people of Cambodia.
Under the Khmer Rouge regime, in the 1970s, all but a few medical professionals were killed, leaving the country in dire need of medical assistance. Our team was able to provide much needed medical care to adults and children through mobile clinics to remote villages. We were able to see, on average, over one hundred patients each day, providing medical examinations and medications at no expense. In addition, we were able to distribute reading glasses.
It was humbling to see a group of people still so greatly impacted by a devastating past, work to overcome such loss. And, in the process, they exude tremendous joy. What a lesson to return home with! I’m looking forward to one day returning to Cambodia. Thank you, Cosmetic & Skin Surgery Center, for your continued support!
