Have you seen the social media ads? Filler is trending hot-hot-hot for the most popular non-surgical anti-aging treatment of 2018.

What is filler?

Filler is a gel-like substance that can be inserted just under your skin.  It is most often made of hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in your body and recreated in a lab.

What are the most commonly used fillers?

Juvederm® (Allergan) and Restylane® (Galderma) are the most commonly used fillers.  They’re both hyaluronic acid fillers and can be used virtually anywhere that you’d like to see an improvement in fine lines, wrinkles and volume restoration.

What are the most popular areas that people like to get filler?

  • Cheeks
  • Smile lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Lips

How much does filler cost?

Most treatments range from $600-$1500.  The cost ranges based on how many syringes you require for optimal rejuvenation.  Be sure to talk to your provider about any budget concerns and they’ll stick to your plan.

How long do fillers last?

Longevity depends on injection technique, metabolism and location of injection.  Most fillers will last between 6 and 18 months.  Your provider will review which filler is best for you and how long it should last.

Is a filler treatment painful?

As with any injection, there’s a slight initial pinch.  However, fillers are mixed with numbing medicine and any discomfort is minimized very quickly.  Our medical assistants are always on hand to provide ice before and during your procedure, too!

What side effects can you experience with a filler treatment?

The most common side effects are redness and puffiness.  Some individuals may experience slight bruising.  Side effects resolve within a few hours to a few days, depending on their level of intensity.
