Details

MINT™ is a unique absorbable thread designed to approximate and fixate sagging tissues. The thread is made from a complex sugar polydioxanone or PDO – a safe suture material that has been used in orthopedic and cardiovascular surgeries for over 30 years.

The procedure takes an average of one hour but can take anywhere between 45 and 90 minutes. Patients will see immediate results after the procedure that can last up to one year. Individual treatment times may vary.

On the day of your treatment, we may apply topical numbing 30 minutes prior or injections of local anesthetic to ensure your comfort. You may feel some slight stinging during the injections, however, once they are complete, you should not feel any pain from the threads.

As we age, we lose collagen and elastin. This in turn results in loss of skin volume, laxity, sagging, and wrinkles. Smooth threads help support overlying skin, improve skin quality and give a firmer appearance to the skin.  PDO smooth threads dissolve over a period of three months, by which time your body has formed collagen along the lines of thread placement.

Lifting threads are a molded, barbed thread that latch into your skin like small fishhooks, to provide support and lift parts of your face. Immediately after treatment, the skin is visibly more lifted, firmer, and more youthful.

It is not uncommon to experience slight swelling for a few days following the procedure accompanied by tenderness to the touch, tightness or mild discomfort, redness, bruising, and temporary asymmetries for a few weeks following the procedure.  These feelings are temporary and mild in nature.  There are other less-common post-procedural effects, such as areas of numbness, skin dimpling or puckering, which your provider will review with you during your consultation.

The ideal candidate should have a skin layer that is not too thin or too thick. For the most optimal results, the skin should be thin enough so the threads can make a visible difference and thick enough so the threads are not too close to the surface of the skin.

Contraindications for the procedure include autoimmune disease and further medical history would have to be evaluated by your provider.
